Team Selected To Study Gondola Feasibility
A new team will get a crack at determining the viability of running a gondola between Georgetown and Rosslyn.
ZGF Architects will head up a team tasked with providing final assessments, recommendations and conceptual renderings. Seven other teams were vying for the six-figure project, the Washington Business Journal reports.
ZGF is based in Portland, OR, and has an office in the District. The firm has experience with similar feasibility studies, including preliminary concepts for the Portland Aerial Tram. Livable City Group will assist with project management and navigating the regulatory processes. Rounding out the team are Fehr & Peers, Partners for Economic Solutions and Engineering Specialties Group.
The gondola idea was first proposed by the Georgetown BID as part of the Georgetown 2028 project. Additional project backers include JBG Associates and Gould Properties/Vornado, both of which kicked in $5k towards the study. [WBJ]
