What's Up at 7900 Westpark?
They're ahead of schedule at WRIT's $35M redevelopment of 7900 Westpark Dr complex in Tysons, according to the firm's director of development, Bob Elliott (left). The first new glass curtain wall has been placed on the complex's Tower building (behind Bob here), and common area improvements to the Atrium building are underway and delivering by the end of the year. The Atrium building will be ready for occupancy by Q1 2015, while the Tower will be ready late Q1, Bob says. (JLL is handling leasing.) Bob's here with WRIT colleagues Brad Mason, Sandy Hass, Brian Moran, and Jason Alexander.
Here's what the Tower building will look like once work has finished up. (That reflection confirms none of the trees are vampires.) Bob says the onset of the Silver Line has increased leasing interest, although there's been more of an effect from 7900 Westpark's close proximity to both of Tysons' high-occupancy toll lanes (or HOT lanes, as you insiders call 'em). The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce has already taken notice, moving into the building this past spring, while Bob tells us a variety of financial services, government contracting, and tech firms have also expressed interest.
