Vornado Keeps Arlington County At 2100 Clarendon Blvd. With 15-Year Lease Extension
After looking at new options for its government offices, Arlington County has decided to stay put in Courthouse.
The county will extend its 235k SF lease at 2100 Clarendon Blvd., which it has occupied since 1989. The 15-year lease will reduce the annual rent the county pays from $11.5M to $9.8M.
Vornado, the building's owner, will provide the county with a tenant allowance of $23.7M as part of the deal. It will also allow the county to expand the building to create a day care facility. The long-term plan for the neighborhood envisions the county building a new administrative building, which it will have another decade and a half to consider under the new lease.
"We conducted an exhaustive search and study of available options, and this truly is the best deal we found," Arlington County Board chair Jay Fisette said. "Under the lease terms, we will be able to restructure our work environment here at Courthouse Plaza to provide even better service to our residents and businesses.”
