Cushman & Wakefield Hires Tysons-Based Tenant Broker From WeWork
Cushman & Wakefield is bolstering its Tysons-based tenant representation team with a hire from embattled coworking giant WeWork.
The brokerage firm announced Monday it hired Paul Carney as senior director. He will represent office tenants in negotiating lease deals in the region.
Carney worked as senior director of real estate at WeWork for one year before joining Cushman & Wakefield last month, according to his LinkedIn page. He helped WeWork with its expansion throughout the Mid-Atlantic, where it had grown rapidly with a string of leases in the months leading up to its failed IPO in August. After the IPO was officially shelved in October and CEO Adam Neumann was ousted, WeWork halted its leasing activity.
Prior to his stint at WeWork, Carney spent five years at Colliers and three years at Transwestern. He received his bachelor's degree from Coastal Carolina University in 2007.
“We’re extremely impressed with Paul’s experience and the impact he’s had on commercial real estate in the Washington, D.C. Metro region,” Cushman & Wakefield Managing Principal Peter Carroccio said in a release. “He’s had a tremendous track record in tenant advisory and strategic growth, and we have no doubt he will be an invaluable member of our team.”
