GSA Looking For 1.5M SF Of New Space, Lease Extensions

Placeholder

The GSA is looking for roughly 1.5M SF of new leases and extensions for a handful of federal agencies in a new submission to a House subcommittee.

The seven prospectuses the GSA submitted include a major consolidation of FEMA and new locations for USAID and the NIH, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The federal government's real estate arm hopes to combine FEMA's three expiring leases, totaling roughly 233k SF, into one location of about 117k SF.

FEMA occupies 400 C St SW, above, 800 K St NW and 1800 South Bell St in Crystal City. The GSA hopes to find an interim location to consolidate the agency within the District before it joins the Coast Guard at St. Elizabeths West in Southeast DC.

The GSA is also looking for a new 15-year, 303k SF lease for USAID in a single location. The agency occupies 356k SF between three leases in DC and Crystal City.

It is also seeking a 238k SF lease for NIH, which currently leases 270k SF in Rockville. The GSA is looking for a four-year extension for ICE's 503k SF lease at 500 12th St NW, while it also prepares to move to St. Elizabeths West. The GSA is also looking for 170k SF for the EEOC, which occupies 161k SF at 131 M St NE. [WBJ]
