WJLA, NewsChannel 8 Owner Renews For 100k SF In Rosslyn
Sinclair Broadcasting Group will keep its television operations in Rosslyn after re-upping its existing 100k SF lease at Monday Properties' twin office towers at 1000 and 1100 Wilson Blvd.
The media company acquired News Channel 8 and WJLA from longtime tower tenant Allbritton Communications back in 2014. Sinclair scouted other potential locations in the District and NoVa before deciding to keep its roots in Rosslyn with a five-year extension.
Monday has made a significant infrastructure investment to suit Sinclair, including the high-speed tech needs inherent in a news organization. All told, Monday has invested over $50M in improvements for the Wilson towers. Just this week, the company announced the reopening of the renovated on-site gym, complete with free basic membership for all tower tenants as an added perk.
Monday Properties president Tim Helmig told Bisnow this morning that the company was very focused on retaining Sinclair as a tenant and views the deal as validation of the attractiveness of the Rosslyn twin towers.
