The Rooftop Basketball Court At 1776 Eye St NW Is Open
With office buildings throughout the District adding fitness centers for wellness-focused tenants, one owner had a slam dunk idea.
Transwestern's construction management services team just completed a rooftop basketball court above an occupied floor at Rockrose's 1776 Eye St NW. The owner had the idea in 2014 to build the court as part of a $20M repositioning of the property.
“I’ve never done another project like this one," Transwestern managing director Richard Whitney said in a release. "We had to take very special measures to make sure that tenants don’t hear a basketball bouncing eight feet above their heads. We are very proud to have successfully completed Rockrose’s vision of providing its tenants with this unique amenity.”
Rockrose is JV-ing with Spitzer Enterprises on the 800k SF trophy Alexander Court building and just closed on a $24M loan on its office building at 1140 19th St NW.
