Growing Smithsonian Institution Close To Landing A New HQ
The Smithsonian Institution has been looking for a new HQ, and it appears a decision could be coming soon.
After issuing an RFP last year, the institution has narrowed its list to six responses and hopes to make a decision by this fall, the Washington Business Journal reports.
The RFP sought up to 550k SF to consolidate all of the institution's current office space, which totals roughly 450k SF, into a single location. Many of the administrative offices are housed at The Castle, pictured above, on Jefferson Drive SW.
The Smithsonian has continued to grow its portfolio of museums, and this fall will open the National Museum of African American History and Culture at 1400 Constitution Ave NW. [WBJ]
