The 47-year-old RCA building in Rosslyn, a 158k SF office building surrounded by some of the region's tallest towers, could soon be torn down.

The Weissberg Corp is in early stages of plans to demolish the building, at 1901 North Moore St, and build multifamily on the site, ARLnow first reported

Weissberg president Nina Weissberg tells Bisnow the planning process is still early and not many details can be announced yet, but the owner plans to move forward with redevelopment as soon as market conditions allow. She says Weissberg has an option to cancel the leases of the building's current tenants by 2019

Nina says Weissberg plans to build just under the allowable density. Arlington County allows multifamily mixed-use buildings in this area to apply for up to 4.8 FAR (floor-to-area ratio) with a special exception. Weissberg is working with local architect Hickok Cole to design a new building.

"We’re exploring a lot of options," Nina says. "We're balancing what we hope will be spectacular design with constructibility."

The building neighbors the region's tallest tower, Monday Properties' 1812 North Moore, which still sits vacant
