Fish Tales!

Washington, D.C. Other

The fish pics keep rolling in. John Buck Co property manager Connor Donovan (right) didn't actually catch this 24-inch brown trout while in Yellowstone last fall, but there's a pretty interesting story behind how his guide (shown here wearing a Fred Flintstone costume) did. Connor and his brother were on the Madison River last Halloween (hence the costume), and after a fun day of catching rainbow and brown trout, decided to take a break. The guide picked up his brother's rod for the heck of it, and after throwing just one cast was in a battle with this 24-incher. Connor helped net the trout—and declined to pose holding the fish since he didn't catch it—but says the motto of the story is: "Never let your guide fish... because they will always out fish you."

West, Lane & Schlager broker Matt Levin caught this striped bass while on a trip in Annapolis last summer and estimates it was "probably a 30-pounder." He also tells us 2013 was a great year in the office after brokering Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll's renewal at 1100 New York (with colleague Rich Lane) and helping the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington purchase its new HQ in Rockville (along with colleague Eric West).

Quadrangle property management head Bill Holvey caught this gorgeous rainbow trout over Thanksgiving at what he calls "a small undisclosed stream." (Trade secrets? Who's the SEC of fishing?) Bill says he's excited about his firm's just-delivered The Lyric apartments in Mount Vernon Square, as well as the rapidly finishing Marriott Marquis convention center hotel.
