Boston Properties Bid Protest Claims GSA Relaxed Requirements for Victory Center
Boston Properties claims that the federal government looked past critical environmental issues and made other concessions in awarding the TSA HQ to Victory Center in Alexandria.
The developer filed a bid protest with the Government Accountability Office over the GSA’s award of the 665k SF lease to Victory Center’s owners over a Boston Properties site near the Franconia-Springfield Metro station. The protest claims that an initial report found significant environmental issues at Victory Center that would hamper the location’s suitability, the Washington Business Journal reports. Boston Properties also claims that the GSA relaxed several other requirements that would have disqualified Victory Center.
The planned move of the TSA to its new HQ could be delayed until the issues with Boston Properties are sorted out. The Victory Center HQ is expected to save the federal government more than $95M over the course of the lease. [WBJ]
