Marina Near Proposed DC United Stadium to Close
The National Park Service has announced that Buzzard Point Marina will close in December. The marina is in the quiet Buzzard Point neighborhood in Southwest DC, near the proposed location for the DC United soccer club’s new 20,000-seat stadium. The 58 boat owners who use the marina have been informed that they'll need to relocate by the end of the year. Park Service officials said the marina would need prohibitively expensive improvements to remain safe and operational. The agency will look into other recreational opportunities on the Anacostia River. Buzzard Point has serviced local boaters for over 50 years. [WaPo]
