Report: GSA’s Darren Blue Resigns to Accept New Role
General Services Administration official Darren Blue has resigned from his post as commissioner of the GSA Public Buildings Service's National Capital Region to accept a new role at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Blue will now serve as deputy chief in the VA’s Veteran Experience Office. He has been employed at the GSA since May 2008 and has served in his current role for the past two years. Blue’s division of the GSA builds, constructs, leases and manages over 100M SF of federal government owned and leased space in the region. The GSA as a whole is in the midst of a critical time and has come under fire for a significant backlog of leases. Leases numbering in the millions of SF are facing expiration while the agency formulates its long-term plan.
During his time with the GSA, Blue has also served as acting chief of the office of emergency response and recovery and as director of policy and plans. The Army veteran has also had stints in the Executive Office of the President and with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. [WBJ]
