Here Are the Companies in the Running for the Franklin School Project
The Bowser Administration has announced that the District received four responses to its RFP for the redevelopment of the Franklin School in Ward 2.
The RFP for the school at 925 13th St NW was issued in August following a request for qualifications. All four respondents have extensive commercial-development expertise in the District and have proposed a variety of viable uses to develop the historic building. Among the respondents were Aria Development Group, whose experience includes the South Cathedral Mansions in DC; and Thoron Capital, which includes the Kenyon Square development project in its portfolio. The other respondents were Dantes Partners and Friedman Capital Advisors.
The RFPs will be evaluated by an interdisciplinary panel of government staff and respondents will work with the community as part of the process. The District has been looking to attract interest to the Franklin School for some time and even included the property on a five-hour bus tour for foreign investors.
