Did WeWork Accidentally Tip Its Hand on Crystal City Residential Concept?

Placeholder

Details on an opening date for WeWork’s co-living residential concept in Crystal City have been scarce, but a clue has emerged that the opening may occur sooner than expected.

Our clue comes in the form of coffee mugs emblazoned with the motto “Live Better Together” making their way to the WeWork Wonder Bread offices, as reported by Urban Turf. The mugs are believed to have been meant for the future WeLive concept, where residents will share kitchen and living space and reside in very small units. Company coffee mugs normally contain the familiar refrain of “Do What You Love.”

WeWork announced plans last year for its first residential brand at 2221 Clark St in Crystal City in partnership with Vornado. The company has received approval to convert Crystal Place 6 into two floors of co-working space with 216 micro-unit apartments on the top floors. The location was originally scheduled to open in November.

Urban Turf, whose office is in WeWork Wonder Bread (Bisnow DC's former home), says after it published its story on the coffee cup switcheroo, WeWork employees went around the office and collected the "Live Better Together" mugs. [UT]
