Rockville’s Timpano Restaurant May Give Way To Contemporary Multi-Tenant Building
Federal Realty Investment Trust has submitted an application to the Montgomery County Planning Department that proposes some big changes to the developer’s Montrose Shopping Center in Rockville.
The Rockville-based developer wants to replace the existing Timpano restaurant on Rockville Pike. In its place would rise a new building that would house multiple tenants, Bethesda Magazine reports.
If the plans are approved, the 11k SF Timpano would be demolished to make way for a more modern structure that could be as large as 19k SF. The new building would be home to a mix of fast-casual establishments with an outdoor seating component. The remainder of the Montrose Shopping Center would remain untouched if FRIT receives the green light.
For inspiration, FRIT is looking towards a similar project it completed as part of Pike & Rose, the developers massive development in North Bethesda that has helped to revitalize the Rockville Pike area. The Pike & Rose building upgrade project brought retailers such as Starbucks and Chipotle to the mix. No word yet on prospective tenants for the new project. [BETH]
