Popular Vegan Chefs Pick The Apollo On H Street For First DC Location
Shoppers seeking healthy organic food have been flocking to H Street since the opening of the new Whole Foods in Insight Property Group's apartment building last month, and now the landlord has signed a new tenant sure to appeal to that same market.
The chefs who created one of the most popular vegan restaurants in the country, Philadelphia's Vedge, have signed on to open a new location at The Apollo at 600 H St. NE, the Washington Post reports.
The restaurant will be the first outside of Philadelphia for the chefs, Richard Landau and Kate Jacoby. The husband-and-wife team plans to replicate their original concept, a vegan street food bar that features meatless dishes, cocktails and desserts combining various ingredients from around the globe.
The chefs plan to open the restaurant this fall. In addition to Whole Foods, the restaurant will also join coffee bar The Wydown and bike shop The Daily Rider as retail tenants in The Apollo.
