Warby Parker Opening Fourth DC-Area Location In Bethesda This Weekend
Warby Parker, an eyewear brand that started online and is now expanding its physical presence, is opening its fourth DC-area location this weekend.
The store will open this Saturday, May 6, in a 1,170 SF space at 4821 Bethesda Ave. in the Bethesda Row retail plaza.
The shop is designed to feel like a library, with leather seating, displays of books, marble-topped tables and suspended globe lighting. In addition to the brand's full eyeglasses and sunglasses offerings, it will offer a pair of frames exclusive to Bethesda: Durand in Striped Sassafras with Flash Mirrored Pacific Blue Lenses.
Warby Parker has plans to open at least 25 retail locations around the country this year. The eyewear brand opened its first DC-area store in Georgetown in 2015, followed by stores in Shaw and Tysons. The company chose Bethesda for its newest location when it found many of the customers at its first three DC-area locations were traveling from Bethesda. It already has more than 50 employees at its DC-area locations and plans to hire eight more in Bethesda.
"Our team is excited to open another location in Maryland," Warby Parker co-founder and co-CEO Dave Gilboa said in a statement. "Bethesda is the perfect spot for us as we continue to connect with the community even further."
