Urban Atlantic Plans Senior Affordable Housing Project In Southeast D.C.
Developers in D.C. continue to seize on the demand for affordable senior housing, with the latest project planned in Congress Heights.
Urban Atlantic filed plans with the Board of Zoning Adjustment for a 56- to 68-unit senior affordable housing project at the intersection of 14th Place SE and Savannah Place.
The developer plans to construct a three-story building on the 39K SF vacant lot. It is working with Wiencek + Associates as the project's architect. The site is within a half-mile of the Congress Heights Metro station and the St. Elizabeths East campus, which is currently undergoing a major redevelopment.
The project is the third senior affordable housing development to be proposed in D.C.'s East of the River neighborhoods this year. Gragg Carona Partners and the Carding group submitted plans in April for a 155-unit project near the Deanwood Metro station. Gilbane and Dantes Partners filed plans in June for a 152-unit project on Southern Avenue SE.
