Ray's New Gig
Ray Bjorklund quietly left Deltek as one of its most well-known federal market analysts last week. He has a new consulting firm, BirchGrove Consulting, which he'll run solo for now from his Potomac, Md., home. Ray's advising private sector companies on their public sector strategy. He left Deltek two years to the day after the company bought FedSources, where Ray had worked nearly 13 years. He thought the time had come to explore other options now that the two companies work well as one machine. Ray's name for his new firm comes from the translation of his surname.
Ray plans to use publicly available resources like FedBizOpps and USA spending to gather intel on government IT spending. He'll glean the important nuggets, like one recent realization that an agency, whose budget was dropping, would be spending more on contracts. We asked Ray for that one thing companies need to know right now. Resisting the urge to give us seven, Ray says the government's uncertain future will translate into more contract delays. (By the way, Ray was thoroughly analyzing the impact of a sequestration on government contracts back in the days when we were too embarrassed to even ask what that word meant.)
