Speaking of power women, the team at Activity Rocket are expanding their “OpenTable of kids classes, camps and sports” service to 30 new markets. Co-founders Lisa Friedlander and Ilene Miller, here with NBC’s Angie Goff, are also raising $2M for the expansion, product development, hiring, sales, and marketing. They’ve seen 700% growth in the number of businesses on the site to nearly 600; 500 activities booked totaling $130k using its new registration platform; and lots new members and activities featured on the site.

Lisa and Ilene, who left law careers to start Activity Rocket in 2011, have been offering service to DC metro and Baltimore. The company recently eliminated its freemium model and launched Pay-as-You-Go services. Every business listed pays a $99 monthly subscription fee or a combination of lead referral and commission fees. At least four businesses on the site use it as their exclusive online registration platform and 90 are on monthly subscription plans. Lisa recently pitched at a Startup Maryland competition.
