Is This Where Cancer Will Be Cured?
Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and George Mason University president Angel Cabrera cut the ribbon on the school’s $40M, 75k SF Institute for Advanced Biomedical Research, which will house the Center for Applied Proteomics and Molecular Medicine and other university research labs. Partnering with community hospitals, regional medical centers and other major research universities, the work will focus on finding advanced diagnostics and treatments for cancer, heart disease and other life-threatening illnesses. The institute sits on Mason’s Prince William campus, which also changed its name this week to GMU’s Science and Technology Campus. Over the next year, more of Mason’s engineering programs and lab intensive classes will be moved there.
