LiveSafe Raises Money, Hires New CEO
LiveSafe raised $4M in a Series A round led by Hearst Ventures and IAC. The company, which developed a smartphone app and mobile safety communications platform, also announced it hired Carolyn Parent (shown) as CEO, replacing Jenny Abramson, who left in June. In 2011, Carolyn co-founded Gravy, a location-based product that provides customer insight based on the local events and activities those customers attend while mobile. She also served in leadership roles at Deltek, BearingPoint and Telos. Since its founding by survivors of the Virginia Tech shooting, LiveSafe has expanded to nearly a million users on college campuses, in large sports and entertainment arenas and businesses. Clients include Cox Enterprises, Hearst, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, the 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium (where the Super Bowl will be played next year), USC, Arizona State, Yale and Virginia Tech.
