Raytheon To Reveal Name Of New Cybersec Company
A new company is entering the DC tech fray…sort of. Raytheon will unveil next week a new company it created with Websense, an Austin-based cybersecurity firm. Raytheon entered into a JV with Vista Equity Partners last May to create a new cybersecurity company that combines Websense with Raytheon’s Cyber Products division. Raytheon invested $1.9B to acquire Websense, with $600M in the form of an intercompany loan to the joint venture.
Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe will be on hand at the announcing of the new name. (If 2015 is any indication, it'll either be Katniss or Kylo.) The Austin-based company will house 400 people in Herndon and will add another 100 cybersecurity jobs to the DC region in the next two years. It’s starting out with over 20,000 organizations worldwide using its products to reduce risk and handle threats.
