Why Apple Isn't Supporting CISA
The Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act advanced in the Senate yesterday, setting up the bill for likely passage. The legislation allows companies and the government to trade information about potential cyber threats to avoid the risk of hacking. Congress hasn’t done much with cybersecurity legislation the last three years, but several high-profile hacks have helped garner more interest, the Washington Post reports. The giants of the tech industry aren’t fans of this particular legislation. Companies like Apple, Dropbox and Google have expressed concern that it would give government sweeping new powers to spy on Americans. Once the Senate clears the legislation, it has to be reconciled with the House version. [WaPo]
