Trending 40: Top Tech CFOs Party Pics
They're the financial brains and often the unsung heroes behind some of the fastest-growing tech companies in the DC region. But last night the Trending 40: Top Tech CFOs were anything but unsung, as we celebrated their talents at a networking cocktail at 1776-Crystal City. Our pics prove how fun CFOs can be when you tear them away from their spreadsheets.
CFOs pursue finance careers because they have crazy good math and analytical skills. (We're pretty sure the way they line up for photos is a fractal.) Many of these CFOs also say they enjoy being advisers to the executives and board. They also have a hand in transactions, like financing deals and M&As that have a huge impact on the company's growth.
Spectrum Careers’ Nick Desando, Daniel Dziuba and Eric Shults surround Invincea’s Lauren Hicks. Invincea CFO Dana Mariano (not pictured) was one of the Trending 40 awardees. She joined the cybersecurity firm in 2012 and oversaw its Series C round.
Guests networked and snacked on hors d’oeuvres and drinks from Ruth’s Chris. We snapped US Treasury Office of Financial Research’s Matt Earley, 3Pillar Global’s Riccardo de Marchi Trevisan, Radius’ Parag Sheth and J.P. Morgan’s Avinash Patel. 3Pillar Global CFO Maria Izurieta (pictured below) also received a Trending 40 award. She's been with the software development firm for two years and told us it was on track to grow 20% this year.
We snapped Ernst & Young’s Chelsea Howe, CustomInk’s Robert Sitter, JLL’s Steve Burman and Jay Farmer, and CliftonLarsonAllen’s Jack Longanacre. CustomInk CFO Kevin Cheetham (not pictured) was another Trending 40 awardee. He studied mechanical engineering in college but his interests soon veered to accounting. (Dad was an accounting professor.)
NeoSystems’ Michael Tinsley and Richard Kirby, Eagle Ray’s Babs Doherty, Cherry Bekaert’s Stacy LaMontagne and JLL’s Harry Klaff. Babs came to cheer on Eagle Ray CFO Dave Uehlinger (not pictured), who also went home with a Trending 40 award. He's helped the government contracting firm comply with federal regs and grow to $45M in revenue.
Congrats to 3Pillar Global CFO Maria Izurieta (left), who we snapped chatting with Radius’ Parag Sheth, PCAOB’s Tim Gustafson and PwC’s Gina Gin. In case you missed our coverage of what makes these CFOs tick, click here.
Huge thanks to our partners: Crystal City BID, Deloitte, Eastern Foundry, Morgan Stanley, Chain Bridge Bank, JLL, Unanet, Wingate Hughes, Navigant and NeoSystems.
