14th Street's Newest Addition
Lupo Verde, the latest offering on 14th, opens Feb. 20th at 14th and T. Owners Antonio Matarazzo and Med Lahlou have packed quite a bit into the 100-seat restaurant.
Here are Antonio and Med with with Chef Domenico Apollaro. Exposed brick, a 15-seat Carrara marble bar, and wrought-iron chandeliers create a cozy, rustic ambiance that matches the home-grown menu. House-made charcuterie, bread, cheese, and antipasti are offered alongside wood-fired pizzas and housemade pastas. Most of the menu will be available to go, in addition to a daily "Lazy Box" offeringa dinner for one that is fully prepped and ready to go into the oven or on the stove—a clever idea in a neighborhood packed with busy professionals.
Tucked into the back corner of the restaurant's main floor is its crowning glory: the Cheese Shop. Offering imported and house-made cheeses and charcuterie in addition to fresh-baked breads, the shop's beautifully displayed items are reminiscent of an authentic Italian market and make for lovely scenery while dining. Customers will be able to order the items by the pound at the walk-up window, whether or not they're dining in. Lupo Verde will open for dinner and late night dining next Tuesday; come March, it will also be open for weekday lunch and weekend brunch. Above, join us for a tour of the space with owner Antonio.
