Biscuits Star in Orso's New Brunch
When ChefWill Artley went to meet his then-fiance's parents in Mississippi a few years ago, he came across a place called Mary Lou's Biscuit Bar. Located in an old shed, they serve biscuits and fried pie... and that's it. (And yet our mother-in-law would still have trouble making up her mind.) Will says they're some of the best biscuits he's ever had, and he's been thinking about brunch ever since. When his regulars at Pizzeria Orso in Falls Church started asking if he'd be willing to open for brunch, his answer was instantly yes. But he wanted to offer his brunchers something fun and different, and he wanted to base it on his biscuits. Thus was born the Biscuit Board.
Will is launching his weekend brunch tomorrow at Orso, with the Biscuit Board front and center. Top your biscuit however you please, choosing from eight jams and sauces (including smoked aioli or lemon jam), two cheeses (cheddar or mozzarella), five veggies (from mushrooms to zucchini), eight meats (from ham to fried chicken to sausage gravy), and eggs prepared three different ways (scrambled, sunny side, or fried). Breakfast pizzas will also be offered, as well as more traditional brunch dishes like fruit-topped waffles and steak and eggs. If you don't see your favorite dish on the menu, let Will know--he tells us the menu is always evolving, and he'sopen to suggestions.
