For Lunch, Think INSIDE the Box
A Japanese lunch box, or “bento box,” allows busy Washingtonians to dabble in different types of dishes, and often for a fraction of the cost. Japanese culture dictates that they be beautifully presented and nutritionally balanced. Here are five places we’ve tried in DC:
Kaz Sushi Bistro (pictured)—This business lunch hot spot has eight standard bentos, including an impressive vegetarian option and a daily rotating special.
Sushi Taro—Bentos start at $12.95, making it possible to enjoy this expensive establishment for less.
Sushi Express—This hole-in-the-wall casual sushi spot serves an authentic bento that changes daily for about $10
Zentan—This Thomas Circle restaurant offers six sushi-centric bentos that are more of a splurge at about $23 each.
Teaism—Multiple locations serve bentos that resemble home cooking (like a Japanese grandmother would make) for $10.75.
