That Was Super Schmooze
Tuna tartare bites were inhaled. Business cards were swapped. Last night, Bisnow's Super Schmooze meant 600 happy eaters experienced 30 restaurants in three hours at the new DC District Center. (And you thought the World Cup was exhausting?)
We snapped a set of Super Schmooze culinary gangsters: Harrimans Virginia Piedmont Grill's Chris Edwards, Marcel’s Paul Stearman, Firefly's Todd Wiss, and Brabo's Harper McClure. They took a hiccup of a break to shake hands before getting back to plating dishes. Veterans like Marcel’s to newcomers like GCDC were represented. Even Penn Commons, which has yet to open its doors, served up a summery gazpacho.
Chefs didn’t just talk to chefs. They mingled with schmoozers. We snapped Carr Workplaces' Federico Galeotti chatting up 1789 Chef Anthony Lombardo. We surmise they were discussing the merits of the super smoky lamb shoulder Anthony was serving. It was a dish that warranted seconds and thirds.
Wine for the evening was provided by Tarara Winery and beer by Palm Beer. Those into cocktails tried libations from Red Light, Ping Pong Dim Sum, The Satellite Room, Marvin, The Gibson and more. We snapped Tarara Winery's Sonya Farrell swapping cards with Jim Abdo. We told you about Jim’s secret supper club a few weeks back.
