The Fantastic Foodie Four
When Union Market first opened in NE, there was lots of buzz about the possibilities it presented as an incubator for burgeoning food business. Six months after opening, we discovered one group of entrepreneurs that has found an innovative way of take advantage of the opportunity. Angela Winter, SamGroh, Brady Marz, and Sophia Maroon (not pictured) make four very different products, and all used to supply Bears Honey Pot, one of Union Markets first tenants. When Bears left the market, the four--none with their own storefronts--wanted to find a way to stay in the market, but it didn't make financial sense for any of them to rent their own space.
So they banded together, sharing one space between their four brands and essentially creating a mini gourmet-food shop. In addition to easing the financial strain of rental payments, joining forces has allowed them more flexibility with scheduling. It's rare to find all four manning the stall at once--they take shifts, allowing each other to be available for the various demands of their lives (day jobs, kids, etc.) Brady's cheese-based Picnic Gourmet Spreads,Sam's all-natural GrohNola granolas, Sophia's Dress It Up Dressings, and Angela's Sweet Teensy baked treats are all available at the stall, located across from TaKorean in Union Market.
