Bethesda Deli to Open Outdoor Bar
Heckman's Delicatessen, downtown Bethesda's only Jewish-style deli, is about to add an outdoor component called The Sideline. The connected alley already popular to deli customers will now become a 28-seat eating and drinking space with a new roof, new tables, space heaters and two flat-screen TVs. Heckman hesitates to call it a sports bar, but it will have a sports bar feel, and may even be home to future trivia nights, BethesdaNow reports. Additionally, sports commentator, and former Washington Redskin, Rick "Doc" Walker, will help promote it on local sports radio. The Sideline will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and feature the full Heckman's Deli menu, along with a happy hour menu and more bar-friendly small dishes. [BN]
