Keith Willner, Mayer Brown
DC has the best lawyers in the country (we're not biased at all). To highlight some of the city's best commercial real estate attorneys, we applied extensive use of statistics and the scientific method and bring you our latest installment of the legal minds that help DC's real estate industry thrive. (Check out Part 1 and Part 2.)
Mayer Brown's Keith Willner almost didn't practice real estate law, starting out as a litigator in San Francisco after growing up on Long Island and attending college and law school at UVa. He's since swapped litigation for transactional work on acquisition, disposition, JVs, financing and leasing. Keith repped MetLife in acquisition and JV work buying 1.4M SF Constitution Center, the largest office building in DC and home to the OCC and FHFA. For the Carlyle Group this year, he did the acquisition and financing of numerous properties including senior living facilities, hotels, resorts and multifamily projects in at least 10 states. He also made time for snorkeling and scuba diving in Belize for his 50th birthday with his family--Rourke, Janie and Jan, all UVa alums.
