DC Bar To Break Ground On New Mt. Vernon HQ
After decades of renting office space, the DC Bar is ready to break ground on a 100k SF building for its new headquarters in Mount Vernon.
The DC Bar's new HQ at 901 4th St NW will break ground on June 6, with local officials and DC Bar leadership on hand. A $70M project, the building is expected to be completed by late 2017.
The organization will take up about 70k SF of the building, with the rest to be leased by companies, restaurants or retailers.
DC Bar CEO Katherine Mazzaferri and COO Victor Velazquez are photographed above at the signing to buy land for the new HQ in October 2015.
"After several moves over the Bar's 40-plus year history, it's good to have a permanent home," Katherine says.
The new space in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood will have a video production studio and more than a full floor of meeting and classroom space for CLEs and other events.
"In breaking ground, we open a new chapter for the Bar, one that will achieve long-term cost savings that were never before possible and that will greatly enhance our legal community," says Sidley Austin partner and DC Bar President Tim Webster.
The Bar expects the $70M project to save it around $25M to $32M in occupancy costs over 30 years.
