Dentons Announces Merger With McKenna Long
The megafirm Dentons is merging again, this time with McKenna Long & Aldridge. It creates a 6,600-lawyer firm, with about 1,100 of those attorneys based in the US. Dentons' Elliott Portnoy and Joe Andrew, pictured above, will continue as Global CEO and Global Chairman, respectively. The news comes on the heels of Dentons' planned merger with China's largest firm, 大成 (Dacheng), announced earlier this year. Dacheng's Peng Xuefeng will be chairman of the Global Board. In a statement, McKenna Long Chairman Jeff Haidet—who will become Dentons US co-CEO with Peter Wolfson—said that the merger is the "result of a thoughtful, year-long strategic planning process." The combination has been voted on and approved by partners of both firms.
