Jail Time for Clerk Refusing Marriage Licenses
Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis was held in contempt of court and ordered to jail by US District Judge David Bunning, until Davis issues the marriage licenses in compliance with the judge's orders. Davis answered, "Thank you," as she was leaving the courtroom. Davis stopped issuing marriage licenses following the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage ruling, saying that granting licenses to same-sex couples would "violate her religious convictions." [NBC]
