Justice Ginsburg's Passover Publication
For those of you observing Passover starting tomorrow, there's a feminist interpretation of the Exodus narrative available to supplement your Seder, created by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Adas Israel Congregation's Rabbi Lauren Holtzblatt. The essay, published by the American Jewish World Service, starts by saying, "The stories we tell our children shape what they believe to be possible—which is why at Passover, we must tell the stories of the women who played a crucial role." It discusses the contributions of Moses' sister Miriam and mother Yocheved, two midwives, and Pharaoh's daughter, Batya. So in a way, this year RBG could be joining you for your Seder. One thing's for certain: Clarence Thomas will not be asking the Four Questions.
