LAUREN FISHER - VOX MEDIA
Lauren Fisher is the VP and General Counsel of Vox Media, a fast-growing company that connects with an audience of 160 million people each month. She joined the company in 2008 when it was called SportsBlogs Inc and had one content vertical; today Vox Media is seven distinct media brands: News (Vox.com), Technology and Lifestyle (The Verge), Sports (SB Nation), Gaming (Polygon), Food and Nightlife (Eater), Fashion and Shopping (Racked), and Real Estate and Architecture (Curbed). Last year, Vox Media launched news site Vox.com, led by former Wonkblog editor Ezra Klein, and relaunched Eater and Racked on its proprietary Chorus platform. Before joining Vox Media, Lauren led an intellectual property team for AOL for almost seven years and then worked with Hulu to put legal agreements and other building blocks in place in advance of its launch. Lauren says Vox is investing in video content across all verticals. The last 6.5 years have been quite a ride, Lauren says, and she couldn't be more proud of what the company is building.
What you didn't know about Lauren:
- She spends almost all of her "me" time at the gym doing interval training and power yoga.
- Her first job other than babysitter, camp counselor and seasonal gift wrapper was as a Radio Shack salesperson on commission.
- Improv comedy was her passion in a former life (and periodically nowadays); she performed with two different troupes over almost 10 years.
