Want to Smoke Weed in DC? You Should Probably Stay Home
Supporters of Initiative 71 may have cheered five days ago when marijuana was legalized in the District, but expect new curbs on its use, reports the Washington Post. The DC Council said it would vote Tuesday on legislation introduced by Mayor Muriel Bower to "prohibit smoking in bars, clubs and virtually anywhere else outside a private home." Congress already prevented DC from creating rules around legal weed sales, but some DC lawyers believed that "cannabis clubs" could be the solution (they'd charge for membership and provide access to weed), says the Post. This new legislation would rule that out. So for now, it seems that those looking to smoke (or grow) should stay in a private residence with their legal limit of two ounces.
