Angels of the Battlefield!
Last night we went to the 8th Annual Angels of the Battlefield Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel.
The gala honored five from the five service branches of the military who provided life-saving medical treatment, often on the battlefield under fire, while disregarding their own safety. We snapped the sponsor, Armed Services YMCA CEO Mike Landers, with 2014 Angels award recipient SrA Taylor Renfro, and The Voice finalist, country music star Savannah Berry, who sang.
Three Angels: HSN1 Janet Combs treated hundreds, including two rescued from the water after their helicopter crashed; HM2 Michael Marchante treated a severely wounded soldier while under active fire; and HM1 Kevin Toland saved many lives when an IED hit a bazaar in Afghanistan.
The Armed Services YMCA provides services for junior enlisted service members and their families at 45 military installations across the US. Here, SMMC Mike Barrett, his wife Susan, The ONE Campaign’s Nicole Gionet, and 2nd Lt. Jesse Ouellette.
