Artini!
Saturday night we also went to the Corcoran Gallery of Art's 1869 Society Artini. We snapped NPR’s Vincent Farquharson and Nicole Donnelly flanking The Gibson’s Frank Jones, who made The Vin #69: lemon, red wine, Virginia White Lightning, pear liqueur, La Muse Verte Traditionelle Absinthe, and simple syrup.
Throughout February and into March, nine of the city’s best mixologists competed to make an artistic martini, an artini, inspired by works of art in the Corcoran. Here, judges Art + Soul’s Ronald Flores, BYT’s Svetlana Legetic, and Corcoran’s Kaitlin Booher.
Jack Rose won the Critic's Choice award and Quill won the People's Choice. Here, Corcoran’s Lindsay Lucas and Holly Mazar flank City Tap House DC’s Jo-Jo Valenzuela, who made Catch Me I’m Falling: gin, Elderflower liqueur, cucumber sour, egg white and Scrappy bitters.
Bhutan Foundation’s Chrissie Ezzell, Tshering Yangzomy, and Hannah Smith.
Travis Holler, Merjan Bubernack, and Alfredo Flores contributed to this issue.
