Arts at the Kennedy Center
Last night we attended the 27th Annual Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy at the Kennedy Center featuring actor Alec Baldwin and Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd.
Maureen gave a powerful speech on the importance of federal funding for the arts, which she learned to love from her mother, a working-class DC woman. We snapped her and Alec with event hosts, Americans for the Arts’ Robert Lynch, and Ovation’s Brad Samuels at the VIP after party at 701 Pennsylvania Ave.
RI Rep David Cicilline, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s Dorothy McSweeny, retiring VA Rep Jim Moran, former Labor Secretary Ann Korologos, and her husband DLA Piper’s Tom Korologos.
Senator Ed Markey’s chief of staff Mark Bayer and Dept of the Interior’s Zaina Javaid.
