Brainfood Burger Battle!
We went to the Brainfood Burger Battle at Poste Moderne Brasserie for the annual fundraiser: a cooking competition among some of the city’s top chefs preparing their best burger recipes for a great cause. We snapped GE’s Katie Taylor, HZDG’s Emma Sullivan, and Harwood Network’s Elliot Patton.
The lineup of renowned chefs included Granville Moore's Teddy Folkman, Poste Moderne’s Kyoo Eom, Pizzeria Orso’s Will Artley, The Fainting Goat’s Nathan Beauchamp, Macon Bistro’s Mike Matis, and 2941’s Bertrand Chemel. Congrats to Osteria Morini’s Matt Adler, here with Brainfood exec director Paul Dahm, who won all three awards, People’s Choice, Chef’s Choice, and the Brainfood Burger Battle, with The White Label with fennel and pickled chili slaw, emmentaler cheese, and rosemary aioli.
Proceeds benefited Brainfood, which uses food, cooking, and nutrition to empower teens to be members of the food movement and have access to leadership opportunities in the local food system. Here, the afternoon’s great beer providers: DC Brau’s Jennifer Jackson, Christopher Graham, and Jeff Hancock surround 3 Stars Brewing Company co-founder Dave Coleman; at left, Gold Standard PR’s Mel Gold.
In addition to delish burgers, guests enjoyed a vegetarian buffet. Here, National Journal’s Julia Patton, Exelis’ JR Heacock, Patton Boggs’ David Tafuri, and Story Partners' Lauren Culbertson.
