Chef’s Roast!
Last night we were also at the inaugural Chef’s Roast at Dock Five in Union Market. Top DC chefs were there, and helped design the four-course menu and choose the wine. We snapped three of our faves: the Source’s Scott Drewno and Top Chefs Kapnos’ Mike Isabella and Bearnaise’s Spike Mendelsohn.
There was a roast that paid tribute to the first lady of organic cooking, Nora Pouillon (right). She’s with her friend of 20 years, The Renegade Lunch Lady, author and chef Ann Cooper.
The evening benefited the Chef Action Network, a resource for chef advocacy. Exec director Katherine Miller and board member Eric Kessler put this evening together because while there may be too many chefs in the kitchen, there are never too many affecting policy change.
Nora’s roasters: New Morning Farm’s Jim Crawford, Roast host Good Morning America’s Danny Boome, Inn at Little Washington chef Patrick O’Connell, Border Grill owner chef Mary Sue Milliken, and LA Kitchen founder Robert Egger.
