Cupid’s Undie Run!
Over the weekend we joined Cupid’s Undie Run on Capitol Hill benefiting the Children’s Tumor Foundation. This year, the 5th annual fundraiser took place in 30 cities (27 in the US and three in Australia) as 20,000 underwear-clad runners raised over $2.6 million. We snapped the Union of Concerned Scientists' Lindsey Fong, who raced for the first time, with friend Kyle Brumby, having some fun during the race.
The US Air Force’s Leah Clark and the Pentagon’s Noah Clark said they jumped at the opportunity to run in their undies through DC for such a great cause.
Pediatric nurses Heather Ryan and Ginny Fergeson drove four hours from the Norfolk Children's Hospital to participate.
Race participants gathered after the run at Pour House, Hawk ‘N’ Dove, and Capitol Lounge to celebrate this year’s financial accomplishment: DC alone raised $321,000.
Bobby Gill (last year’s photo), who established the event with Brendan Hanrahan after their friend’s younger brother became paraplegic during his battle with Neurofibromatosis, tells us they had “no idea the event would grow so large” when it started in 2010 with 600 runners raising $10,000.
