Eat4Life!
So what makes for a healthy colon anyway? That was the question to be answered last night as we joined Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation’s second annual Eat4Life Celebrity Chef Cook-Off at Longview Gallery. We snapped Table DC chef Frederik de Pue, whose food creation included a crudité salad, bookended by C4L Young Professional board member Mike Swallow and exec director Michael Sapienza.
Local celebrity chefs were invited to compete with dishes using colon-friendly ingredients, including salmon, leafy greens, and (our favorite) dark chocolate. Guests tasted the various dishes while learning how to “Love Your Butt” through healthy eating. Here, Beangood Coffee Pub’s Faheem Noor Ali, The Tailored Man’s Sanjay Daswani, C4L board member Vishal Sandesara, and Devin Brande.
For the second straight year, The Source chef Scott Drewno took home the prize. Here, the champ is surrounded by Fairfax Co Public Schools’ Jimmy Sanabria, WhyFoodWorks’ Sarah Waybright, and Georgetown Pinstripe chef Carlos Gonzalez.
March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. The Chris4Life Foundation seeks a cure to eliminate the disease, the second leading cause of cancer death. Join Chris4Life this Sunday for the ninth annual Scope it Out 5K at Freedom Plaza. Here, Sconset Films’ George Ferris, C4L founding director Doni Kanka, and Rodney Grove.
