History & Hops!
Last night we also went to History & Hops at the Heurich House Museum to kick off a monthly series of house tours and beer tastings. We snapped the organizer, Right Proper Brewery’s head brewer Nathan Zeender and BCCA’s Robert Fondren bookended by Heurich House’s Kim Bender and Maurice Maloney.
We toured the home, also known as the Brewmaster’s Castle, which belonged to DC’s most successful brewer, the late Christian Heurich, and saw original hand-carved woodwork, furniture and a bierstube, German for beer room. Here, Kit Check’s Jen Gitchell, The Advisory Board’s Stuart Anderson, and EPIC’s Evan Lourding.
Each third Thursday of the month, the museum partners with a craft brewery so guests can taste different local brews while learning the history of its owner. Here, Stout and Teague’s Pam Hill, Institute of Humane Studies’ Brian Pickeral, and ProQuest’s Ryan Meskill.
Think Local First DC’s Stacey Price and Heurich House Museum volunteer Seth Hennes, Kayla May, Michael Emerson, and docent Jennifer Ezell.
