Madeleine, Tina & Ping!
Yesterday afternoon we joined over 400 at the RitzCarlton for NDIs Madeleine Albright luncheon.
Between the five-person panel on women in tech and lunch we snapped the former Secretary of State learning about 3D printing from co-panelist Geomagic founder Ping Fu, who tells us she printed her pink necklace, and will send a printer to the secretary. Our guess for what she prints first: apin, of course!
The Daily Beasts Tina Brown is surrounded by her Women in the World Foundation co-founder Kim Azzarelli and by Sasha Bruce Youthworks Liz Stevens, and Ann Pincus.
The luncheon launched the Madeleine Albright Project, a global fund to help women participate in politics. Here, Aspen Institutes Kris Robinson, Elliot Gerson and Susan Sherwin bookend Connie Calaway and author and filmmaker Jean Kilbourne.
Venture Philanthropy Partners VP Anne Reiss is with panelist Intel VP Shelly Esque, who discussed their recent Women and the Web study, which found that 25% fewer women have Internet access than men; the highest discrepancy is in sub-Saharan Africa. She calls for a doubling of female Internet usage in the next three years.
We enjoyed sweet tea withsugar cane sticksand the rocket salad with fresh strawberries and goat cheese. Here, NDI board member Lynda Thomas and staffer Susan Markham flank Y&S Nazarian Family Foundations Sharon Nazarian Baradaran.
