Magic Giant & Madi Diaz!
We want to share two fantastic bands with you. First, Magic Giant, put together by our own Austin Bisnow, is on the move.
Known as a high-energy folk-electronic band with euphoric hooks, a dozen rotating instruments, a drumming DJ, and crowds that can’t stop dancing, they’ve had standing room only shows around California, including the legendary Troubadour, and have a residency at L.A.’s Bootleg every Monday night this month. The band includes Austin on lead vocals, keyboard, and guitar; Zambricki on banjo, mandolin, and fiddle; Brian Z on upright bass and acoustic guitar; and AJK, the drumming DJ. Magic Giant recently finished its debut five-song EP, joined by world-class musicians like Dave Matthews Band’s Rashawn Ross and Capital Cities’ Spencer Ludwig. LA-based Madi Diaz, about whom LA Weekly wrote, “She writes the most danceable breakup music ever!” came to DC with her band to play to a sold-out crowd at DC9 in Shaw. She played lots of hits from her new album Phantom, including the smash Stay Together. We snapped her holding our dog, surrounded by her tour manager and sound engineer Colin Queensberry, keyboardist Jenn Stone, and drummer Pat Gerasia.
