Miss Empowered!
Last night we were also in Old Town at coworking space Connect113 for Miss Empowered, an intimate female-focused event of networking and candid talks. We snapped speakers/honorees Tigerlily Foundation founder Maimah Karmo, her daughter Noelle and Ladies America founder Lindsey Mask.
Some of DC’s most prominent self-made women who have become advocates for social change were on hand, such as honoree Girls Health Ed. founder Sarah Elizabeth Hillware, flanked by Erin VanGorder and Baille Gelwicks.
The women spoke candidly about where they came from and lessons they’ve learned. Here is Sip with Socialites co-founder Tahera Zamanzada with photographer Vithaya Phongsavan. Also honored was Miss DC 2011 and philanthropist Ashley Boalch Darby.
A rose between two thorns, here's Dreams for Kids DC founder Glenda Fu, who moderated. Connect113 is home to many entrepreneurs and startup-hopefuls, such as Arthur Tamayo and Curtis Cimino.
